General
  • Yes - Close to the Edge - I still don't know what it means but it damn well makes me feel good about life every time I play it.

  • Jade Warrior - Way of the Sun - just the finest crossover piece of music between the realms of rock, jazz, classical and world music. A stunning tone poem capturing Tony and Jon at the peak of their creativity.

  • IQ - Dark Matter - even better than Foxtrot which I would have taken otherwise.

  • Gentle Giant - In a Glass House - the most original opener to any album I have and 6 wonderfully varied examples of how progressive rock can be simple, complex and beautiful all at the same time.

  • Dream Theatre - Images and Words - classic mix of AOR and prog-metal to deal with my angry moods.

  • Locanda della fate - Forse le lucciole non sio amano pui - the best of all the Italian albums that bursts the heart strings. Wonderful arrangements and singing.

  • Amarok - Quentadharken - Vibrant mix of world music and progressive rock with some brilliant hooks and male/female vocals.

  • Minimum Vital - Espirit D'Amour - gorgeous vocals and uplifting Oldfield-ish arrangements from the brothers Paysann. Sonia Nedelec's voice is like water trickling down a glass of ice.

  • Mars Volta - Amputechture - an album I keep finding more and more hidden gems in.

  • Greenday - American Idiot - just to remind me why I'm probably stuck on this freakin' desert island in the first place. The best rock album ever for me.

  • Hits: 4137
