Bob Mould: Workbook - His first post-Husker Du record and while he's come close a few times so far, he
hasn't topped this.
Jackson Browne: The Pretender - Loads of good playing and some really great writing. It never gets old.
Reeves Gabrels: Live ... Late ... Loud - Great live
album, great energy. This sets the new standard for
live albums.
Frank Zappa: Roxy and Elsewhere - Admittedly, it's hard to pick one Zappa album but this has the definitive
version of "Village Of The Sun."
Metallica: Master Of Puppets - In its time it was the
most audacious record I owned and it changed my life
forever.
The Beatles: Let It Be - The proto-punk album? Maybe. Take off the Paul ballads and you've got one raucous affair.
The Replacements: Let It Be - Not the tightest 'Mats
album ever but easily their finest hour.
Mike Keneally: Boil That Dust Speck - His best and
deepest cutting album to date, though Wooden Smoke is an excellent companion piece to Boil.
Miles Davis: Kind Of Blue - Every home should have one.
Steve Vai: Flex-able - Why Vai has yet to unleash a
children's album on the unsuspecting public is beyond
me. "The Attitude Song" has not yet been surpassed as
a guitar anthem.
