It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of SoT founder James Bickers at the young age of 45. James started the original Sea of Tranquility magazine back in the late 1990's, one of the first print publications to combine progressive metal & rock in one magazine, before taking the concept completely to the web in 2001. Bickers handed the reigns over to Pete Pardo that year to move on to other career opportunities, but his presence and direction was felt from afar in those formative years for sure as we slowly made a name for ourselves here on the internet. Through the years James became a beloved media host in Louisville, Kentucky, where he appeared on the popular 89.3 WFPL and 91.9 WFPK as well as various podcasts and local TV programs. His charming wit, as well as knowledge of all things related to music and pop culture, will certainly be missed, and his 'stamp' here at Sea of Tranquility will never be forgotten.
