  • Detective-S/T Debut
I had heard of this band before and knew that Michael Des Barre was the singer of the band, but that was all I knew until the mid-part of 2016. If you are a lover of 70's Rock and especially British 70's Rock, then Detective are for you! I just can't get enough of them. They were on Jimmy Page's Swan Song record label, too! This debut record from 1977 is pure gold and mixes elements of Hard Rock, Reggae, Power Pop and Funk all up into a ball that makes me listen to it over and over again. Their second record is awesome, too! Check out the tunes "Recognition" and "Grim Reaper".

  • Course Of Empire-Telepathic Last Words
Another great band from the 90's that no one knows about. This Dallas, TX band was considered to be Alternative Post Punk with a Hard Metallic Edge, but Course Of Empire had their own sound and I've never heard anyone else that even sounded close to what they were doing. They also featured a huge propulsive drum style that incorporated two drummers. They managed to have an almost Industrial sound without being Industrial. This 1998 record was their chance with a major label (TVT) but nothing happened for them. Check out their tune, "New Maps" to get what I mean. Great band!

  • Pat Travers Band-Go For What You Know
1979 and this single disc live album just doesn't quit. Pat Travers had amassed one of the greatest 4 piece bands in Hard Rock history (Travers-vocals and guitar, Pat Thrall-guitar, Mars Cowling-bass and Tommy Aldridge-drums) and this album is a live document of a FIERCE powerhouse of a band firing on all cylinders. Everyone knows their excellent cover version of "Boom Boom, Out Go The Lights", but the other heavy, funky and righteous tunes that make up "Go For What You Know" just can't be contained. This is what Hard Rock in the 70's was all about. Fantastic vocals, awe-inspiring musical performances all around. Check out "Getting' Betta" and "Go All Night". Perfection!
