Wanna hear all the goods, direct from the horse's mouth? Well, then author Dave Thompson has just the book for you, as The Wit and Wisdom of Ozzy Osbourne is 174 pages of mostly quotes from throughout the years from the famed 'rock & roll Prince of Darkness'.
This is a quick read, and for the most part a lot of fun, as the author breaks down the book into chapters based on major things that have gone on in Ozzy's life, like his time with Black Sabbath, his solo career, drug & alcohol addiction, marriage, having children, rehab, and host of other topics. What makes up most of the content here though are the many documented quotes from Osbourne that deal with these particular topics, and most of them are quite hilarious and revealing. Though there's a good chance if you are a fan that you've seen many of these quotes elsewhere over the years, it's kind of nice to have them all in one nice little volume like this. The statements from Ozzy relating to his drug, alcohol, and sexual escapades are hysterical, though you have to wonder how the singer made it out alive after all the years of excess. In fact, you can easily tell that Ozzy wonders the same thing.
Seeing as Thompson is a lifelong fan of Ozzy & Black Sabbath, it's kind of odd to see some obvious mistakes in the book (a late 70's photo of Sabbath just before Ozzy was booted from the band, complete with his very early 'Blizzard of Ozz' design T-shirt, is incorrectly labeled as a photo from the earliest part of their career, and Live Evil, the bands 1982 live album with Ronnie James Dio on vocals, is listed as having Ozzy on it and recorded in 1975...that's Live at Last, get your facts straight!), but nevertheless, The Wit and Wisdom of Ozzy Osbourne is worthy of your attention strictly due to the 'words of wisdom' of Mr. Osbourne alone.
