Sweden once was known for ABBA as being the music that came from this Scandinavian country. Nowadays, Sweden no longer represents the world of Pop, no, they have changed to the world of Heavy Rockers.
DarkWater is one of the bands in the frontline. With their high powered symphonic progressive metal they play an important part in Swedish music. Where Stories End is the sophomore release by the band from Sweden. The first one was released back in 2008, and was lavished with good reviews all around.
This may be even better than their first effort, as I feel they have established their own sound now. Sure, if we need pointers of what we need to think of I would go into the direction of Queensryche, but Dream Theater pointers are also present or Shadow Gallery. Most of the Progressive metal bands apply here as far as a reference point.
We are treated to great guitar work, heavy on the keyboards, and I also hear violin. In short a musical extravanganza of the finest sorts.
Mark my words, keep your eye on these guys, they have gigantic potential to become a big name in progressive metal. You can feel in seventh heaven, make your Nightwish to become true, Let Dark Water play for you.
