Emergency Gate: The Nemesis Construct

The Heavy Metal Brutes of Germany called Emergency Gate have given birth to a new effort.

The Nemesis Construct consist of 13 Melodic "death" Metal songs of a high standard. They have succeeded in making another album with songs ranging from 2:50 to 4:40 in length, and track by track these are great works of "art" I would say. Complete with the heavy growls of singer, Mathias, clear vocals are present as well. Of course there is heavy riffing and speedy guitars along with the pounding drums, and, what always seems present in this genre, melodic keys.

I do not find it strange that Emergency Gate are rising stars in the music style they bring. This is one hell of a band, bringing Brutal Metal music of an exceptional high level.

A band to keep an eye on in the future.

Emergency Gate: The Nemesis Construct

My Score:

Solid melodic death metal from this German six piece act, The Nemesis Construct could see a wealth of acceptance from fans who clamor for the sounds of bands like Soilwork, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Mercenary, and Scar Symmetry. Honestly, there's a lot to like here, as The Nemesis Construct features plenty of brutality, a heaping amount of melody, growling and clean vocals, symphonic keyboards, and ultra-crunchy guitar work. Lead vocalist Matthias Kupka throws his whole arsenal of styles at the listener, much like former Scar Symmetry vocalist Christian Alvastam, including soaring clean vocals, screams, growls, shouts, and a powerful & husky mid range. It also doesn't hurt that Evergrey singer/guitarist Tjomas Englund puts in a guest vocal on the excellent "Dark Side of the Sun". In fact, much of Kupka's clean vocals have a slight Englund feel to them, while his extreme vocals are very much like Speed from Soilwork.

Plenty of extreme metal thumpers on this one, from the raging opener "Alternative Dead End", the crushing and slightly symphonic "Excite!", the progressive "The Green Mile", and all the way to the grueling melodic death metal ferocity of "World Escape". The battling of clean vs. death metal vocals is very well done, and although The Nemesis Construct probably won't win any awards for originality, what Emergency Gate do they do real well, and it all makes for a very entertaining CD.
