Lykaion: Swallowed by the Sea

Lykaion counts on staff four musicians, including two guitar players. The Italian act is releasing this promo EP and a full length is in the work wit a possible release at the end of the year.

What's happening during those three pieces? A series of powerful sounding and melodic compositions. The pace is between moderate and fast and the rhythmic section is punchy. Not only is the drummer kicking and the bass fat, but the riffing is quite juicy too. I would dare add that all compositions have certain catchiness without being cheesy. Harsh and decipherable vocals are the singer's signature. Having two guitar players is always a plus in music. Thus, the harmonies are increased by means of delicate and clean arpeggios. "These Words" is not only about juicy riffs but comes with intensity. "My Last Song" adds a touch of progressive music in their time signature.

Overall, this EP is a nice listen, although you won't hear anything outstanding or new on this disc.
