French death metal band Beyond Insanity's first release is a brutal and not just music wise five track EP, the concept is based on the life of killer Ed Gein. This isn't the first band to draw on his horrific acts, as Slayer also got inspiration from Ed Gein with their song "Dead Skin Mask". There is even an extreme metal band who call themselves Ed Gein, and it doesn't end there.
Beyond Insanity are one heavy and able kind of band, not shy when it comes to technical metal, exhibiting impressive competence with their instruments. Vocals range from growls and screams though Beyond Insanity do bring some clean vocals and spoken words into the mix. The production on this EP is quite fitting, as Beyond Insanity's turbulent songs have all been captured appropriately.
Complex and destructive metal can be found on "My Way Of Life", their aggression boils over on "Psycho(Path)etic" and "Gone". The extreme vocals explode on the delightfully titled "Skin Cemetary", the title sounds like what would be found in the backyard at Leatherface's home, the chainsaw wielding killer from just one of the well known movies that were inspired by Ed Gein disturbing exploits.
The destructive wrath of Beyond Insanity has been unleashed on this EP, the band proving that they have the potential to go forward and release an inspiring first full length intense CD.
