Death metal band Strands Of Night is the work of one person from Lousiana, Missouri. Rena Vela is the individual behind this new three track recording named Damnation. Rena plays all instruments (except the drums which are programmed) and he also combines his changing, most sinister of vocal styles. If you have heard the aggressive vocals of bands like Psycroptic then you'll get the idea of what I'm referring to.
This melodic death metal release commences with a spirited number, letting loose the darkness of the title track "Damnation", complete with layered guitars and Rena's vocals sounding like a horde of demons, while the fitting animated music has this musician kept busy. From the guitar intro of "Against The World", angry screams and robust sounding drum fills increase the intensity, and the fury of "Resist The New" completes this trio of songs from Strands Of Night.
For a solo performer Rena knows what he's doing, and if you posses that ability like Rena has shown here then why not do it yourself so to speak. Strands Of Night's Damnation really packs a heavy punch, and gives the listener an impressive sample of what future material we could hear when Strands Of Night's first full length release debuts.
