On the new CD Sovereign Descent, the band Landmine Marathon goes off with a bang as their furious music gets underway. Landmine Marathon are from Phoenix Arizona and have been around since 2004.
Landmine Marathon is another band performing intense metal with a female lead singer, and when Grace Perry's unyielding wild screams and growls cry out she is ably backed up by the merciless death/hardcore music presented on Sovereign Descent.
Upon the commencement of Sovereign Descent you have a track called "Exist" and I found Landmine Marathon's heavy musical introduction quite catchy, the music gets harder and faster once Grace Perry's vocals cut in, though that speed does decline for a period. More hard-line music is up next with "Shadow Fed To Tyrants", and for the most part "Cruel Policy" is a slower very potent guitar fuelled track with the some double kick blasts.
One thing with Sovereign Descent is at times I would have liked to hear more of the Landmine Marathon's music as the band can play, with maybe longer solos or instrumental passages and slightly less vocals, but if you don't mind a heady dose of raging vocals then give this a go.
