A band that delves into assorted musical avenues of metal and rock is the fine Australian progressive group Voyager. This band has no shortage of technical ability and ideas, as proven on Voyager's most recent and very appealing recording I Am the reVolution. I have read many positive remarks about this group, and believe me they truly are justified after hearing this their third full length release.
Featuring the delightful and chiefly clean melodic vocals of Daniel Estrin (though some more aggressive tones do see the light), these vocals on I Am the reVolution really leave a memorable impression. Daniel also plays keyboards, another role with which his efforts help to assure that Voyager's melodic music is so good.
I Am the reVolution has such an addictive charm, opening with the fun and very inviting "Land Of The Lies". Up next is "Common Ground" and with a fantastic vibrant keyboard intro, which sounds even better when repeated with the heavier guitars and metal grooves of drummer Mark Boeijin, this song is superb, compelling you to crank the volume right up. It's hard to choose just one favorite song, the word filler does not pertain to Voyager, all of I Am the reVolution's compositions boast an endearing quality right to the conclusion of track twelve, the excellent title track.
Bands like Voyager are proof that Aussie musicians can match it with those from other countries, and I Am the reVolution speaks volumes for that.
