Trolls are said to come in various forms, well this Troll is a band who have a new album called Neo-Satanic Supremacy. Why, isn't that just the quaintest title, or not, could this really be anything other than a black metal release? This ominous collection from Troll is exactly that, as Troll are cutting loose and taking a walk on metals dark side.
Troll was formed by Nagash (ex Dimmu Borgir, The Kovenant)in 1992, releasing albums up to 2001, then taking a break for many a year, but now take heed for Troll have ascended once more from the inferno, making Neo-Satanic Supremacy the first Troll release in a quite a while. If the title doesn't grab the attention of dark metal's minions, their devilishly fine music will, performed by a band not lacking in experience nor talent, creating this moving black metal album.
A haunting atmosphere engulfs when "Til Helvete Med Alt" comes to life, with an evil scream Troll begins their latest hellish assault. A release that's not totally stuck in hyper speed, while many tracks do explode at rapid pace there is some reprieve, such as "Hvor Tken Ligger Sa Trist Og Gra". Neo-Satanic Supremacy has a wealth of titanic tracks, with its wicked keyboards and guitar, in conjunction with explosive drumming. This is one fantastic symphonic black metal release that had me under its spell from the start through to the closure of the swift "Age Of Satan".
What a comeback by Troll, and I have no problem in writing that Neo-Satanic Supremacy is the best black metal CD I have experienced since that other triumphant return of Immortal with All Shall Fall.
