Jump: Home Songs

Jump aren't horrible. Home Songs features a number of pleasant enough tunes ("Home Song" comes across like a poppier latter-day Grateful Dead) but it's hard to get a strong fix on whether they've got a real, honest-to-goodness enticing voice that'll elevate them to something greater. While much of the material is derivative ("All Hail" is okay but it's an obvious Mark Knopfler knockoff that never gets off the ground), it's easier to listen to stuff that tries too hard to be innovative. Is that enough to recommend this release? Maybe as a souvenir to the band's live shows which surely must be entertaining. Some interesting stuff, but don't make plans to change your life around Jump's touring schedule.
