The Tasmanian devils have stepped out of the graveyards to spit their lethal Black Metal message to the underground freaks that we are! This Satanic duo doesn't need to use stage names to be considered serious. Alex handles all the string instruments and vocals, backed by a devastating pounding machine called Dave.
The production on Front the Final Foes is simply impressive for its clearness and powerful sound. You can hear every instruments loud and clear, even the bass! To top it all off, the raspy vocals are decipherable! Crunchy guitar riffs, distorted arpeggios, varied, but always pounding drumming, and paces that won't get stuck to the same tempo are all over the place. Although this album is "in your face", it is far from being boring or repetitive. No instrumentals, ambient passages, calmer acoustic parts or the like are offered, but it would not have hurt hearing a bit of those melodious moments. On the other hand, few samplings like voices, wolves and fire are scattered here and there. What needs to be remembered about Ruins is that these guys are a powerfully crushing Tasmanian act with a dark/doomish edge.
Of the great music included can be found pieces like: "The Sum of Your Loss", "Cult Rapture", "Hallways of the Always" and closing track, "With These Winged Words".
