The Rocket Dolls: Frame (EP)

Debut four track EP from this young metal trio from Brighton who consist of frontman Nikki Smash (vocals and guitars), bassist Steve Golder and drummer Ben Knopfler (son of Mark). For a debut release this is remarkably polished and professional and the Rocket Dolls are clearly a band that put a strong emphasis on songwriting and attention to detail. Lead track "Frame" is a riff filled anthem that makes use of an effective breakdown and packs a real punch. The swirling rhythms of "Broken" mark this song out as another winner and Smash's post-grunge style of playing and gritty vocal delivery are certainly impressive. "Bleeding The Shame" is another up-tempo, adrenalin fuelled burst of energy and raw power and this is a band that are well worth checking out when they head out on a 20 date tour of the UK with CodeJAK in February and March. It is early days yet for the Rocket Dolls but on the evidence so far they have a bright future ahead of them.
