Ebony Tower: Dead Planets New Stars (EP)

Classic Prog / Goth rock collective Ebony Tower have been around in some form or another since 1996 being the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Wilson McQueen but four track EP Dead Planets New Stars actually marks their debut release. Picking up some positive coverage in Classic Rock Meets Prog will do Ebony Tower no harm and this is a promising precursor to the bands full length album proper that will follow next year. Fronted by fiery vocalist Rebecca Everitt and also showcasing some dynamic violin playing from the classically trained Skye Sheridan, Ebony Tower have a spark of originality that sets them apart from the pack and are well worth checking out. Pick of the four songs is the punchy, mid-tempo "Celebrity Squares" which provides a catchy blend of melody and power.
