Roxy Music: The Story of Roxy Music-More Than This (DVD)

The Story of Roxy Music-More Than This is a charming and informative 90 minute documentary from Eagle Rock Entertainment that looks at the career of one of rock's most unique bands, Roxy Music. Blending rock, glam, avant-garde, pop,and prog, Roxy Music hit the scene in the early 70's and enjoyed much success throughout the decade. Led by singer Bryan Ferry, the band also included at various times such notable musicians such as Phil Manzanera, Brian Eno, Andy Macay, Paul Thompson, and Eddie Jobson. Many of their albums, like For Your Pleasure, Country Life, Roxy Music, Manifesto, Siren, Flesh + Blood, Stranded, and Avalon still to this day remain favorites with lovers of 70's music, and most of the members have gone on to do other things in music since the glory days of the band. The DVD looks at the career of Roxy Music from its inception as an avant-garde/prog band to its more pop rock later period, with plenty of interview segments from the various members & people involved with as well as influenced by the band, plus plenty of live and studio clips. For many longtime fans of the band, the early footage with Eno on keyboards & synths will be a treasure to behold (though it's somewhat of an unfair teaser as no complete songs from this period are included on the DVD), and the documentary takes a look at each album release in chronological order. As an added bonus, there are three live tracks from the Dock Rock in London in 2006 ("Both Ends Burning", "Editions of You", and "Do the Strand").

This is a great look at a very underrated band. Now, let's see if someone willn release the complete early 70's footage-now that would really be something.
