Bloodline: Hate Procession

In the last batch of promos received was included many very good extreme metal discs. Bloodline's Hate Procession was one of those goodies and a pleasant unexpected one from a total stranger band. This project saw the light of darkness in 1998. Bloodline is the creation of Sasrof (Diabolicum) on guitars and programming and Dödskommendanten (vocals & electronics). More members were recruited as well to eventually form a quintet, including Wrathyr (Naglfar) on vocals and Wredhe (Shining) on lead guitars and vocals.

Hate Procession is a concept album, separated in two chapters, that deals with the disturbed mind of a serial killer and the quest to eradicate humanity. Those guys have actually a nice cinematic and dramatic edge to their own style of Black Metal. Mid tempos, crushing riffs, sick rasps plus lots of atmosphere are to be enjoyed all along this album. You can also hear samplings such as: spoken words, speeches and a bit of industrial sounds here and there, to complete their cinematic and wicked world. I particularly enjoyed all tracks from # 2, "The Great Becoming" to #6, "Day of the Vulture", as they are more representative of their nightmarish Black Metal vision. The other compositions are either intro-outro with ambient sounds and speeches. There was also a hidden track which starts at 2:35 into the song, basically made of electronics and a few words. Another ambient instrumental is found on position #4, "The Stampede".

Besides the hidden track, which is useless in my opinion, there are no bad cuts, and Hate Processing keeps a regular flow of crunchiness and entertainment.
