Antikaroshi, The: Crushed Neocons
I must admit this has taken repeat listening to fully appreciate the various levels of styles and genres battering away at my ears. Almost dismissing it as being too repetitive, in my haste I almost let it slip through the filter. The Antikaroshi are indeed a German three piece who class themselves as being influenced by D.C Punk and Hardcore, think of 'At The Drive-In' or 'Rage Against The Machine' and you'll get an idea of what to expect. Throw into the mix some Jazz and a sprinkling of Electronica and what you get is a combination of heavy jam sessions separated into nine tracks showcasing some excellent musicianship while travelling through strange and varied landscapes. Free styling their way through tracks like 'Downtown' & 'Fistful' particular mention has to go to bass player Ntik whose fluid, solid bass-lines punch through to intertwine the harmonies and melodies of Thea on guitar and vocals. In fact there are so many little pieces going on in the background it will take repeat listens to pick them out. Crushed Neocons' is a sterling effort for a debut and will open up more doors on every listen.
