Being one of Sweden's longest lasting Black Metal acts, Necrophobic doesn't really need any introduction. Satanic Blasphemies is a collection of their 1990 and 1991 demos, plus a 1992 EP. Each one is made up of three songs.
On the first demo called Slow Asphyxiation , you will get plenty of good heavy riffs with a certain rock and roll edge, as well as a good sound production. The raspy vocals of Stefan Zander are of the deeper style, and are very good too. The pace is normally fast, although some moderate ones are also present; completed by those juicy riffs. On the second demo, Unholy Prophecies , the sound is rawer with buzzing guitar work. I actually enjoyed that one quite a bit for its underground edge, mid-tempos and nice guitar harmonies. The surprises were not over yet, since the last segment, the EP simply named The Call built on the solid foundations set up by their previous demos. The vocals on that one are just impressive by being sick and wicked as well as ghostly. The excellent guitar playing of David Parland is filled with harmonies and crunchiness. The other good news is that the pace remained venomously moderate, which is just great.
Satanic Blasphemies is a good collector item for Black Metal fans, and a must for Necrophobic/Swedish Black Metal followers.
