Angst: The Liner

Beginning with an eerie and haunting piano that leads to a hypnotic guitar, Angst reels you in with a mesmerizing sound then thrashes you to pieces with the terrific opening song on this EP called "Darkness Rising". The band is a tantalizing mixture of new metal with a touch of the hard rock that most of us were raised on. Never going to the extreme, the band has a very good sound with melodies that will stay with you long after the CD has stopped playing.

This 3 song EP shows a great amount of talent with the potential to really become an outstanding band. Being a sucker for old school NWOBHM, this short disc gives a dose of what has been lacking in so many mediocre disc that have come across my desk, a blast from the past with a modern twist too it. They even give you a little punk attitude with the last song "Cruise Liner". While I cannot say that they are going to be the next superstars, Angst has produced a brief sampling that will have me on the outlook for a full length release.
