Geisha: Die Verbrechen der Liebe

This Tokyo based band or English according to their myspace page, chose a German title which translates to English as "The Crimes Of The Love". As confusing as that might be, it is nothing compared to the hour long monstrosity that this group has unleashed.

While most of the album is a palatable collection of noise, sludge, and ambient music that is about the best thing I can say about it. It is something that can play in the background and almost never make you take notice of it being there. For those of you that miss the psychedelic sounds of the late sixties or looking for the piece that will compliment the instrumental parts of The Doors song "The End", just check out the 30 minutes of the song "Theme From Diana". This is as close to a musical interpretation of a Carlos Castaneda trip as you will hear.

Simply put, this droning work is something that leaves me flat. There are spots here and there that work very well but the overall album is one that I cannot find a good reason to pull out and listen to. While I cannot say that there is anything that made me cringe or want to rip it out of the player, by the same token there is absolutely nothing on the disc that I cared to hear again either.

Track Listing:

1. Prelude To Amber Pays The Rent
2. Stop Talking, Let's Fuck
3. A Wilderness, Except By Sight
4. Cocktown & The G Boys
5. Sportsfiser
6. Theme From Diana
