Netherbird who hail from Sweden are a relatively new band that formed back in 2005. After a single release and a couple of EP's to their credit Pulverized Records out of Singapore issued their debut full length entitled The Ghost Collector last year. The band's sound can best be described as melodic black metal which incorporates elements of Goth as well. You get heaping doses of fast and furious blast beats, too many gothic, symphonic instrumentals ("Adrift On The Sea Of Misery", "Adrift Towards Eternity" and "Boulevard Black (reprise)"), and sadly just the odd smattering of decent sounding, heavy riffs on "Blood Orchid" and "The Blackest Breed". Nothing on The Ghost Collector will strike the listener as being either original or something they haven't heard countless times before within this genre. The only thing that draws any real attention here, and for all the wrong reasons I might add, is the self indulgent fourteen minute "Boulevard Black". In the end The Ghost Collector comes across as merely an average opening statement, so I'd suggest passing on this one in the hopes that they get it right the second time around.
