Maniak: Black Thrashing Genocide

I'm not exactly what these guys are trying to pretend to be. Per the picture I saw, they look like a bunch of WWE clowns or something, who in turn wear metal clothes. Not too serious or even remotely kvlt.

I was glad to find out this CD lasts 33 minutes, since it is one of the rare good points about it. Besides the electronics, samplings and vocals found in the intro, all the songs on this disc sound pretty much the same. The production is raw and muddy, even chaotic in the fastest parts. It's ok for Black Metal to be raw and having highly distorted guitars. In this case though, the rhythmic section, especially the bass, sounds too strong and upfront. The compositions are usually in the mid-fast to fast range. They have guitar solos in many places; another good point for them, along with tremolo picking. The vocals are some dried out type of rasps, lacking variation and emotions. The music on Black Thrashing Genocide is somewhat melodic, repetitive and mostly boring. I normally take a line or two of notes while listening, but here I just have four lines for the entire album…

There is not much more worth saying about this release. I would strongly avoid this album unless you are into low quality Thrashing Black Metal, or if you are a frustrated teenager you will do the contrary of what a mature person would say.
