Hemoptysis: Who Needs A Shepherd?

The EP Who Needs A Shepherd? is the introduction to the Phoenix based metal band called Hemoptysis. Who Needs A Shepherd? shows another band dishing out their traditional thrash and modern death metal influences over five tracks, end result being an ok album for the metal followers.

Heavy riffs, double kicks, aggressive vocals from Masaki Murashita and some old school thrash, Hemoptysis' Who Needs A Shepherd? has plenty. The tracks follow your familiar metal formula path or structure, though the last track "A Traitor" did stand out as something different.

Improved production would assist their next release, to enhance their sound. Who Needs A Shepherd? isn't the best debut I have heard, but it's acceptable while it lasts, and far from the worst. I am sure Hemoptysis are a band that with more experience, will present us with a stronger full length follow up, as their efforts on Who Needs A Shepherd? show they have potential.

Track list:
1. Shadow of Death
2. Who Needs a Shepherd?
