Evolotto: 6ixers

The best thing about Evolotto's second album, 6ixers, just may be its cover photo of cult actress/babe Michonne Bourriague (who played bounty hunter Aurra Sing in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace). This is rather melodic punk/thrash/hardcore noise, with traces of Voivod, Meshuggah and Helmet. Unfortunately, someone either bassist/vocalist Schmid or drummer drummer/vocalist Ben can't sing. Thus, many of these songs boasting such delicate titles as "Capitaljizm," "Shine On You Crazy Starfucker" (which has no resemblance whatsoever to the similarly titled Pink Floyd masterpiece) and "Not the Gentleman Kind" devolve into broken-throated yowls that'll make you wish these Ohio dudes were an instrumental power trio.
