Opprobrium, originally from Brazil, then relocated to Louisiana, and also formerly known as Incubus, has a new album on their hands. The Death/Thrash metal release Mandatory Evac is the work of Opprobrium's two members, brothers Francis and Moyses Howard. Francis is Oprobrium's hard line vocalist, he also takes care of the bass and guitar, while sibling Moyses backs him up playing his way around the drums.
Mandatory Evac is their first release in eight years, with twelve metal tunes from the duo. Mandatory Evac doesn't just rely on powerful music, the lyrics cover topics like those found on "Incident" which tackles the subject of victims organs being harvested for profit, or "Mandatory Evac" about the effects of a hurricane that should have been better prepared for, but the warnings were ignored. "Fake" deals with putting your trust in plastic surgeons, without background checks causing terrible results, and "Sports Of Danger" concerns the thrill derived from radical sports whilst ignoring the potential risks.
The production on this album isn't fantastic, the jumbled sound really lets this release down, and ultimately after listening to Mandatory Evac I can't say I was that overly excited.
