Freya: As The Last Light Drains

Melding elements of metals progressive and nu, plus a dash or two of hardcore, Freya are on to something. In some ways they're a bit like the mysterious spawn of At The Gates and Offspring, a melodic-but-deadly collective that shows restraint in the right places and a lack thereof also in the right places. The best tracks here include "Glasscating Smile," the title track, "Throwing Rocks At A Drowning Man" and "Negative Infinity." It'll be interesting to see where Freya go in the future, what stones they unturn, for something tells me there's a lot more to this band than meets the ear canal.
