Cannibal Corpse: Evisceration Plague

Funny how a decade or so ago Cannibal Corpse were seen by many as the most extreme band on the planet, and today, the levels of brutality in metal continue to rage ever higher, rendering the overpowering, technical death metal attack of these veterans as somewhat tame in comparison. Well, the band's follow up to Kill is anything but tame, Cannibal Corpse once again working with good buddy Erik Rutan from Hate Eternal behind the production chair, delivering an album worthy of the attention of any serious extreme metal fan. Evisceration Plague contains plenty of what you would expect from this band-killer, technical riffs, blazing guitar solos, jet propelled bass lines, thunderous blast beats & double bass drumming, and the thick, raging growls of George 'Corpsegrinder' Fisher. As if to raise their noses at such acts as Beneath the Massacre, Origin, Decrepit Birth, Deeds of Flesh, and the like, Cannibal Corpse spew out such brutal, technical, yet catchy gems as "Beheading And Burning", "Scalding Hell", and "Unnatural", each monstrous examples of just what this band does so well, that is to create frightening examples of pure death metal. Check out the relentless torrent of rumbling bass from Alex Webster and Paul Mazurkiewicz' insane drumming on "Carrion Sculpted Entity" and "Evidence In The Furnace" for proof that these two are one of the best rhythm teams in all of extreme metal. Let's not forget the formidable talents of Pat O'Brien and Rob Barrett, two amazing guitar players who not only show their brutal side with punishing riffs but plenty of finesse in their solos.

Add in a bonus DVD featuring a documentary on the making of the album, and you have another winner from Cannibal Corpse, showing why they are one of the most dependable acts in the genre.
