With dirty fuzz, chugging riffs and confident yet raw vocals tinged with evil, this two-track demo shows plenty of promise for the Amazing Whiplash Family, the New York City heavy metal trio that lives up to its name. It's damn near impossible not to bang your head and snap your neck while playing this LOUD. Think mid-tempo Ozzy Osbourne meets Black Label Society. "Thru 2 You" is built on angry guitars supported by a catchy chorus that's actually sung rather than shouted, while "Vice" opens with the sounds of electrocution and tribal drums before segueing into stop-and-go verses. Too bad there's not more here - eight minutes of music is only enough to tease listeners, which I guess is the point. (Rumor has it the Amazing Whiplash Family is working on a full-length album.)
