On Everything We Are, American singer/songwriter John Taglieri may make you nostalgic for the days when all that mattered was hook-filled, feel-good music about love and good times. Sure, he rhymes "fun," "done" and "gun" in "Get You Back" and titles another song "Booty Call." But with dashes of Cheap Trick, Bon Jovi and the Gin Blossoms, Taglieri proves himself a worthy performer who would have moved far beyond indie status had his career begun in, say, 1986. As an EP, Everything We Are works well as an introduction to Taglieri's edgier side after four albums of acoustic-guitar dominated pop/rock. And he approaches the bonus track ("The Mac & Cheese Song" — I know, the titles absolutely suck) by popping in from time to time between the final song and the hidden cut for some witty commentary. Simply put, this is a fun way to spend 30 minutes; nothing more and nothing less.
