Flu.ID: iots

Reading this bands Myspace page it says that they are no longer. While this might be disheartening to some, I doubt if the world of metal will even bat an eye. Iots is the debut and I guess final album by this German group. Even though it does have some good moments, it soon becomes abundantly clear why they decided to hang it up.

While this album is a very brutal undertaking for the most part, flu.ID seems to loose their identity somewhere along the line. After giving you a total thrashing with the openers "ordinary different", "necromancer" and "enthymem" the band then seems to run out of gas.

Trying to hard to be different, the band turns away from the screamo/hardcore attack and delve into a world of experimental sound effects mixed in that really doesn't work. By this time, when they do decide to unleash their hardcore side, the vocal and repetitive sounding music have grown quite tiresome. There are a couple of brief flashes that offer hope along the way, but it is not nearly enough to make you want to wade through the whole disc.
