Lecherous Nocturne: The Age Of Miracles Has Passed

Not sure if 27-minutes qualifies as a full length CD here or just an EP, but the latest from South Carolina's Lechurous Nocturne, titled The Age of Miracles Has Passed, once again sees the band delivering their solid brand of 'blackened death metal'. This might be a term that means absolutely nothing to many, but picture manic blast beats, razor sharp tremelo picked guitar riffs, and brutal death metal growls, which is pretty much what you get here, and it's quite well done and effective. The kick-off 'one/two' punch of "Just War Theory" and "We Are Dust" pulverize from the opening seconds, leading into the cavernous riffs of "When Single Shines The Tripled Sun", perhaps the strongest track here, a real doozy of death & black metal menace. Lyrics deal with war, genocide, slavery, death, and other enlightening topics, but it's the furious pace of the music that really compels here, the two guitar attack delivering one monstrous riff after another, the blast beats pummeling but not overpowering, and the growling vocals of Hohenstein the icing on the cake. Good to see them mix in some doomy death metal with "The Age Of Miracles Has Passed", and the band even offer up some technical flair on the intense closing number "The Preponderance Of Fire". Despite the brevity of it all, The Age of Miracles Has Passed is very strong stuff, and warrants your immediate attention. Chalk up another winner from the Unique Leader label.
