Metal Minds turn back the calendar once more and give you another chance to hear one of the bands that helped shape the heavy metal world of the 80's with its re-release of Poland metal pioneers Destroyers 1989 album A Night Of The Lusty Queen. Although they might not have been well known in the States, their influence on the European music scene is undeniable.
The original album was released in their native tongue but was soon followed up with an English language version. Metal minds give you a Destroyers overload by not only giving you the complete English version but also cuts from the original Polish disc and some live versions to boot!
This trio lays down some very catchy riffs that are wrapped around the growling vocals of Marek Loza with a style that leans heavily toward the epic qualities coming out of Europe at the time. Musically this is a very decent album with some superior guitar moments. Lyrically, I would have to say that something gets lost in the translation. Let's just say that it might be best to sit back and enjoy the good guitar thrashing they give you!
For me the highlights of the disc are in the Polish versions. The song "Potepieniec" is the most melodic on the disc and a real guitar treat. "Czarne Okrety" is a very cool bit of metal mayhem. All in all, this is a very interesting disc from a band that should have gotten more recognition than they did.
