German metal is alive and very well these days. One example is this extremely talented bunch by the name of Dragonsfire. While keeping true to the bands that came before them, they manage to make you think great 80's metal but with a little more of a thrash feel. You will think quickly of Iron Maiden with songs like "Rebellion – The Kingdom Of Heaven", "Oath Of Allegiance" where they give you an epic metal feel and the fantastic rocker "Burning For Metal". Then they also give you a taste of bands such as Iron Fire and Manowar with there scorching guitar work on tunes such as "Wings Of Death" and their band anthem "Dragonsfire Rockxxx". Guitarist Matthias Bludau and Timo Rauscher have been taught well in the old school type of metal and it makes this disc a real headbangers dream!
The band has a style that oozes metal. Every note, every riff, every song is pure and simple rock and roll. They do not pretend to be anything more than this. They are not out to forge into new territories, the band has laid claim to the land of heavy metal and they are defending it to the best of their ability!
The last part to this puzzle is the vocals of one Thassilo Herbert. Take a good dose of Lemmy and then throw in a major helping of Paul Stanley and you will get the voice of Dragonsfire. I was sitting in the other room with the CD playing and had to come back and check to make sure this wasn't a Kiss disc. Just kidding guys; but he does have, at times, a very Stanley sound to him. We all know how many rock and roll anthems that voice produced, well… here you have one that is similar and is trying to put a fire into the world of heavy metal once more!
I have really been enjoying this disc since it arrived. Every metalhead will. Just look at who they are compared with. There is nothing fancy here, just all out heavy metal the way it is suppose to be played, loud, fast and with a fist pumping, noggin bumping fury! I can't wait for them to get over here. I can just imagine what their concert must be like!
