Autobody: The Mean Length Of Daylight

Things are heating up in Calgary Alberta thanks to a new power trio by the name of Autobody. Consisting of vocalist/bassist Jerrod Maxwell-Lyster, guitarist Graeme McInnis and drummer Rob Shawcross, Autobody combines a heavy rhythm with some very catchy melodies to create an album that is a highly enjoyable listen. Jerrod's vocals range from a deep growl to a very agreeable clean tone while hitting pretty much everything in between. He even manages to throw in the occasional well placed scream as in the opening song "Worms".

Graeme manages to always keep you guessing with a wide array of styles on his six string. From chunky power chords to sweet melodic fills, even the occasional heavy solo, McInnis makes this an album that will keep the guitar aficionados sated.

Highlights from the album include the infectious "Purrs On Pills", the very heavy "Husk Of A Man" and the two part "The Living Edge…" "…Of Destruction". There is also some terrific guitar work on the song "The #1" that deserves special mention.

Although I can't say that this is a world beater, The Mean Length Of Daylight is an album of very good metal that is solid from start to end. You have to love a band that uses one of the coolest pinball machines as their artwork too! They also give the people who are familiar with this machine a little bonus on a hidden track!
