Guillotine: Blood Money

Sweden seems to be the birthplace of some of the most intense metal to grace the planet. Guillotine is a prime example. These guys are a zillion bpm of high energy thrash! With the duel guitars of Fredrik Mannberg and Daniel Sundbom trading scorching licks throughout this disc, it is a concentrated electric onslaught that might just take your head off like the instrument the band is named for! Add to that the growly, yet still understandable singing of Mannberg, you have a very forceful and worthwhile offering. This album is like Megadeth on steroids. You had better hold on tight while listening cause there is no slowing down! From start to finish this is a disc that is meant to hammer you. I would not recommend it while driving as speeding tickets and extreme behavior are a likely side effect. As a matter of fact, one of our team at Sea of Tranquility is a regular at the gym and listens to music there all the time. I am going to suggest that he use this CD, as the adrenaline rush might just add a few more reps to those power lifts!! Pump up Duncan!!!

Fredrik Mannberg and bassist Nils Eriksson are both from the terrific power metal band Nocturnal Rites. This band (Guillotine) was started as an outlet for them to return to their thrash roots. I hope that they plan on continuing their double duty as both bands are magnificent groups in their own genre.

Guillotine, I hope, is here to stay. This album is raw and utterly thrash at its best. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
