Not progressive rock but punk rock, or at least what
passes as punk rock these days (new wave a la The
Knack mixed in with some Clash-style gang backing
vocals and a whole lot of melody). Not that that's a
bad thing. Worthless United have a number of things
going for them--the aforementioned grasp of melody,
high energy (real, not the designer variety that makes
some think that singing off-key and smashing
everything in sight constitutes being rambunctious and
interesting) and (gasp!) a whole lot of personality.
While not every song here is a raging, radio-ready
smash, the majority should garner a fair share of
airplay and put a smile on the face of even the most
reluctant "punk" fan. Fun enough that it makes you
want to make your car a convertible so that everyone
can hear that what you hear.
