Lamb of God: Walk With Me In Hell (DVD)

Virginia's kings of the modern US metal scene Lamb of God have released a string of great DVD's for their fans, the most recent one being the excellent Killadelphia back in 2005. Now, with Walk With Me in Hell, the band once again gives back a treasure chest of goodies to their fans, celebrating their album Sacrament and seemingly closing the book on it as they prepare for the next phase of their career. This DVD takes you on the road with the band during their extensive tour for Sacrament, the band as headliners, as well as special guests on tours such as Ozzfest, Gigantour (with Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Opeth, and others), and with Heaven and Hell. These shows took the band all over the world, and the pain and joys of life on the road are shown to great extent, as the footage features not only live clips but backstage stuff as well, the band all sharing their inner most thoughts with the cameras and really giving the viewer a sense of how challenging the life of a touring band really is. Though Killadelphia showed a younger band seemingly out of control, fighting amongst each other, here a few years later they seem much more mature, obviously more aware of their ascent up the metal ladder and how much of a business it has become for them. The DVD also has a handful of full live songs from various tours as an added bonus to the documentary, showing the band in all their glory on stage and ripping it up.

Over on DVD 2, you get an extensive documenrary on the making of Sacrament, which again, is a fascinating watch. Whether in the studio, or on tour, the individual members of Lamb of God are such characters that you easily become intrigued with any situation they are in. The real highlight here however is the full show from the Download Festival, the band tearing through a 40 minute set in front of 75,000 fans, offering up favorites like "Pathetic", "Black Label", "Walk With Me in Hell", "Again We Rise", and "Redneck" as the fans go absolutely beserk in front of them. Some of the most amazingly sick moshpits are seen here, as if they had a life of their own, violent maelstroms of rampaging bodies moving in maniacal circles, driven by the fury of Lamb of God's songs.

Throw in the "Redneck" video and a short 'making of' clip, and you have a few hours worth of Lamb of God content that is well worth picking up.
