The debut from Outlaw Order, a band made up of members of EyeHateGod, Soilent Green, and Arson Anthem, offers everything you would expect from the New Orleans metal scene. Dragging Down the Enforcer is filled with sludge, sludge, and more sludge, an aggressive blend of Black Sabbath styled doom, hardcore, and punk intensity. Nothing more, nothing less. For many, that will be a good thing, especially for followers of the legendary EyeHateGod. Results are perhaps even more 'in your face' here than with that band, as Outlaw Order spew out plenty of maniacal vocals over their Sabbathian romp, tunes like "Alcohol Tobacco Firearms" and "Mercy Shot" feature no shortage of riffs straight out of the Masters of Reality school while Michael D. Williams shouts out plenty of venom. The main problem here is that after a while the riffs, though they are heavy and down-tuned as all hell, start to sound repetitive after a while, and from the get go the vocals just aren't all that innovative or enjoyable. So, give Outlaw Order points for aggression, huge riffs, and an overall ballsy sound, but deduct a few for lack of originality, generic vocals, and a real short CD length.
