Friedman, Marty: Exhibit A-Live In Europe

Not much more can be said about the extraordinary talent of ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman. He is one of the most innovative and creative musicians in the world. You can now get a mouth watering taste of his abilities with this superior quality live offering. On stage, Friedman is an absolute monster! On this almost totally instrumental disc, he displays a vast array of styles without the confines of being in a group setting. With wild abandon he unleashes a six string assault upon the listener that soars from the heaviest rock to strikingly beautiful guitar passages, sometimes in the same song, such as the terrific Angel.

While many have know for years just what Friedman is capable of, this disc is a true testament to his outstanding ability and one of the most enjoyable instrumental disc that I have found. With so many albums of this type, the music seems to get repetitious, but the diversity shown by Marty on here keeps you entertained throughout. This is the type of disc that you just want to throw in the player and then hammer on the air guitar! The music is just so much fun. Like the extremely anthem like Cheer Girl Rampage, that just defies you to keep still for the whole song.

It takes supreme talent for a guitarist to completely enthrall the listener for over an hour of music, but Friedman not only makes you glad that you have this disc; he still manages to leave you wanting more. If you have a love of great guitar music, this is an extremely good example of what a master musician can do with the instrument. For those that do not yet put him in the category of Malmsteen, Petrucci or Satriani, this disc might just change your mind. Listening to what he can do, then realizing that he is doing it live, not in the studio only makes you appreciate it that much more. I am very hard to please when it comes to instrumental music, but Friedman not only satisfies but has me checking his tour schedule.
