Acacia Strain, The: Continent

It's one crusher after another on the latest release from Massachusetts' very own The Acacia Strain, titled Continent. Now into their third CD for Prosthetic Records, The Acacia Strain show here why they are considered one of the premier death-core acts on the circuit. Don't expect much of a change of sound from 2006's The Dead Walk, this is your tried and true formula from these guys, and it's quality all the way. Massive breakdowns, brutal riffing, pulverizing drums, wild pinch harmonics, and ferocious growls, all characterists of kick ass tracks such as "Seaward", "Skynet", "Kraken", and "Dr. Doom". Guitarist DL is once again 'the man' here, his crunch-o-rama as monstrous as it gets, and throw in some tasty solos and plenty of harmonic squeals, and you have a CD filled with lots of heavy guitars for all you extreme metal lovers out there. Growler Vincent Bennett also has a strong hand in things here, his maniacal renderings on "Forget-Me-Now " are so over the top that they are sure to give you goosebumps. Not for the meek for sure. Probably the best track here is the bludgeoning "Cthulhu", simply a fabulous blend of death metal and brutal hardcore. On top of all this bone-crunching metal mayhem, the artwork on the CD was once again done by Paul Romano, who has worked so well with the band and others like Mastodon, The Red Chord, and Dead to Fall, and it's just great stuff, even the lurid, blood soaked polar bear on the back.

So, stop wasting time, get out and get a copy of this bruiser right now...your extreme side beckons you!
