Somewhat pedestrian and by-the-numbers hardcore with a touch of metal, Fury and the Fallen Ones sees California's The Ghost Inside (cool name by the way) try real hard to come up with something new and exciting, but beside the fact that these twelve tunes are well played and executed, you sort of get the feeling of 'been there, heard that' throughout this CD. At just over a half hour long, with most songs being in the 2-3 minute range, Fury and the Fallen Ones speeds along, most songs pretty heavy yet sounding interchangeable from each other, filled with churning guitar riffs, jackhammer rhythms, your requisite breakdowns, and screaming, angst filled vocals. It's not until the final piece "Blue and Gold" that this band hits on something really memorable, this tune a very inspired anthem with some wonderful harmony guitar licks and plenty of catchy melodies to go along with the metal thunder. Otherwise, a commendable effort overall, but it's obvious that The Ghost Inside have some growing to do and an identity to find.
