Ever wonder what The Melvins, Mr. Bungle and King Crimson would sound like if they all got together in a room and were left to duke it out? Well ponder no more because the Indiana quartet known Lafcadio deliver this exact kind of spontaneous musical combustion on their 2nd album Kibosh released on Joyful Noise Recordings. There are more than enough massive, sledge hammer style riffs and jagged guitar work, coupled with a veritable plethora of off kilter tempos and shifting rhythm's to keep the listener completely engaged for the full duration. Unfortunately though Kibosh only runs about thirty minutes, so just as you find yourself getting used to and perhaps actually liking the incessant Mike Patton-esque barking lead vocals, it's all over. Overall Kibosh is a pretty entertaining album which certainly borders on being fairly eccentric at times, but this is primarily where it's target audience is. If you're looking to put a little more kick into your music collection then give Kibosh a decent look, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
