Sinamore: Seven Sins A Second

Although billed as a "gothic rock" album, Sinamore's Seven Sins A Second also could be considered progressive metal and even stoner rock. Heavy and somber yet full of fist-pumping hooks, the album is a paradox of sorts just like the Finnish band itself. These guys recorded under the name HalfLife and H/L before settling on Sinamore, and the band's history is pocked with dissolved record labels and unreleased albums.

With a sound that bridges Metallica, The Cult, Sentenced, Depeche Mode and H.I.M., Sinamore now has a home at Napalm Records and a new CD that doesn't so much redefine the sound of male-fronted gothic metal as it does expand that sound. Sinamore isn't afraid to rock even when singing about such dour topics as being "Far From A Dream" and how "Everything Ends."

Simply put, this is gothic metal for the rest of us.
