Sourvein are a doom metal outfit hailing from North Carolina that specializes in absolutely brutal brand of drop tuned, primal concrete sludge. Unfortunately as promising as that might sound for fans of this genre, the music on their latest EP Ghetto Angel never reallytakes off or offers the listener much more than four impressively produced, yet highly interchangeable tracks. The riffs are repetitive and the tempos dont vary at all so what this means is that things get tired pretty quickly. Sure the guitars are thicker than a brick wall and the vocals spew heaps of vitriolic venom at every turn, but truth be told there just isnt much more thanthat. In the end Ghetto Angel will probably only interest a small amount of hardcore doom lovers, the rest should pass on this one.
