Retribution: Made In Hell

Metal Mind Productions is again re-rereleasing a little known CD from the Polish Metal band, Retribution and their 2006 release Made In Hell. A new school type of slugfest that is both aggressive and somewhat futuristic, with roots in Thrash.

Made In Hell kicks off with the short Instrumental, "Humanproof" and rolls into the riffy Static X-ish and heavy title track. Also check out the romping Nevermore flavored "Logic Matchbox Horror", "Pitch Black Future" that has some definite Testament overtones and the cool groove laden CD closer, "Dirty Dogville" for some Thrashy good metal. The highlight track on Made In Hell is "Dealer Fuckin' Killer". It unloads on you from note one and it never stops until the track is over. A killer song. Retribution's vocals remind me a bit of a cross between John Bush-Armored Saint/Anthrax and Warrel Dane of Nevermore, while the overall musicianship is pretty tight.

This is a very modern sounding record in the vain of Shadows Fall and Nevermore, while still keeping that Thrash feel of a time gone by. Every track has that "go for the throat" attitude that is lacking in a lot of metal these days and for that alone it's worth checking out Retribution. There are 13 tracks clocking in at just under 43 minutes on Made In Hell and only 1 is over 4 minutes long, so this is a fast and furious CD that gets right to the point. Check out Retribution, a pretty cool band that I had never heard of before either.
