More technical death metal from Poland, this time from young band Deivos. Their debut album is called Emanation From Below (originally released in 2006 but now being reissued by Metal Mind Records), and offers up a lot of promise, sure to please fans of Immolation, Hate Eternal, Decapitated, and Behemoth. With seven songs are barely over 30 minutes, this one's a little short but perhaps for a debut that's not a bad thing. These guys sure know how to fire off some precision guitar riffing and machine-like drum blasts, as songs like "Realm of Desecration", "War March", and "Blackness Incarnate" contain plenty of violent aggression, further cemented by bassist Jarek Pienkos' very effective growling. In addition to all the technical arrangements, the lads in Deivos have not forgotten how important guitar solos are in death metal, so you can expect some wild & nimble excursions here, as well well as plenty of squealing pinch harmonics. The ultimate act of brutality here is the crushing "Battle For Dominance", a real sign of the talent that this band possesses, and perhaps a sign of things to come on their next release. Deivos have all the tools for extreme metal success, so I'm sure Emanation From Below is just the first step in what should be a very exciting career for this death metal outfit.
