One part thrash metal, one part Mr. Bungle is one way to describe Enemy of the Sun. This is the second disc of 2008 that has captured my attention, he first being Anand Bhatt's latest, and Mike Patton being the connection between the two. In Enemy of the Sun's debut, there are great riffs, and great being that they don't bore you, they don't sound exactly like 'such and such's song on such and such album', and they give you a reaction that you desire. For me, its the energy. It's why I listen to thrash, and it's why I listen to punk. Enemy of the Sun inspires me. Their blend of off the wall craziness (see Mr. Bungle) with hard rythms, well played leads, addicting and catchy vocal melodies, and a distinct set of songs is all the doctor ordered for this listener. I highly encourage people to check this band out. Go to their MySpace site and check out the third track, "Lives Based on Conflicts." This is my favorite track, but one song doesn't tell the whole story of this album, so make sure to check out the others. Then make sure to buy yourself a copy and to tell a friend.
To offer some more information on the band, and to steal from their site: "The creative force behind Enemy Of The Sun is Waldemar Sorychta, master guitarist, producer extraordinaire and prolific songwriter for more than two decades. He wrote all the music and played it for Grip Inc., Voodoocult and Despair, he also shaped the sound and feel of Lacuna Coil, Sentenced, Moonspell, Tiamat, The Gathering and countless others."
